MBABANE – The Women’s Football National team, Sitsebe will be playing for pride when they face Namibia in their last group match this afternoon, 3pm.
Sitsebe’s dream of reaching the semi-finals or the knockout stage for the first time were shattered when they lost 3-0 to South Africa’s Banyana Banyana while they had a dream start in the tournament when they beat Seychelles 6-0 in their opening fixture.
Banyana Banyana have already reached the semi-finals spot as they are currently top of Group A with six points while they face Seychelles who are yet to get a point from the tournament. Even if Eswatini won and Banyana Banyana face to win against Seychelles, the neighbouring state will go through with the head to head rule having beaten both Namibia and Eswatini.
Meanwhile, there is plenty to play for by the local players as Tenanile Ngcamphalala is still the leading top goal scorer with three goals alongside Namibia’s Fiola Vliete. Celiwe Nkambule who scored a brace during the 6-0 win over Seychelles has two goals and she would defiantly like to increase her tally.
The COSAFA Women’s Challenge also continue t the FIFA World Rankings and Eswatini would like to improve their standing as they are currently seating at 182 from 209 countries under FIFA while they are at 42 in the CAF rankings out of 54 countries.
