MANZINI– Fashion is not just about what you wear; it’s about how you express yourself!

In the heart of Manzini, a new wave of fashion consciousness is emerging, led by the innovative Skorobho Movement. This initiative is not just about clothing; it’s about reshaping how people in Eswatini view and engage with fashion.

The idea for the Skorobho Movement sparked from a desire to change perspectives on fashion.

At the heart of the Skorobho Movement are four dynamic individuals; Mancoba Mavuso, Nokubonga Tsabedze, and Neliswa Magagula. Together, they collaborate to drive the creative vision forward.

According to Mavuso, who is part of the organizing team, fashion is not just about what you wear; it’s about how you express yourself. This philosophy fuels their mission to inspire others to embrace their unique styles.

Mavuso was inspired by young fashion bloggers in South Africa and saw an opportunity to cultivate a community of fashion enthusiasts right here in Eswatini. A playful suggestion from a friend led to the catchy name “Skorobho Movement,” which quickly gained traction when photos of their creative sessions were shared online.

Describing the Skorobho aesthetic is simple: passion, visionary, and consistency. The movement believes that success in fashion requires a clear vision and a deep passion for the craft. “Without love for what you do, it’s easy to lose your way,” Mavuso notes, highlighting the importance of dedication in fashion. In a world full of fleeting trends, the Skorobho Movement prides itself on its originality. “We don’t just follow trends; we create our own,” Mavuso explains. This commitment to authenticity sets them apart and resonates with those looking for something fresh and unique.

Reflecting on their growth, Mavuso shares how their style has evolved over the years. From wearing popular items like skinny jeans to developing a distinct personal aesthetic, the journey has been transformative. Inspiration comes not only from local influences but also from global fashion designers. For many young people, fashion serves as a way to discover their identities and build impactful careers. The Skorobho Movement aims to guide individuals in enhancing their fashion sense, fostering recognition and opportunities in today’s digital world. “With Skorobho, we embrace your inner fashionista,” Mavuso encourages.

Currently, the movement is focused on designing unique bags that reflect their creativity. Each piece is crafted with care and passion, aiming to connect with those who appreciate thoughtful design. Despite facing skepticism about their style, the Skorobho Movement remains steadfast. “We stay true to ourselves and our beliefs,” Mavuso states, which has drawn many young stars eager to join the cause.

The future looks bright for the Skorobho Movement. Plans are underway for pop-up events where fashion enthusiasts can network and showcase their talents. Additionally, there are dreams of opening a Skorobho shop to promote local fashion and host exciting fashion shows. This expansion will continue to challenge the notion that fashion cannot be a viable career.

The Skorobho Movement is more than just a fashion initiative; it’s a celebration of creativity, community, and self-expression. As they continue to inspire the next generation of fashion lovers in Eswatini, one thing is clear: the future of fashion is in good hands.
