MBABANE – Exciting news for educators!

Members of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) will benefit from discounted tickets for the upcoming Makoti Festival. This initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Makoti Festival and SNAT on April 13, 2024, allowing teachers to purchase tickets at a reduced price.

According to Festival Director Thembinkosi Mthethwa, this agreement has been in effect since the third edition of the Makoti Festival last year. While the standard ticket price is E300, SNAT members can now buy tickets for E250.

The fourth edition of the Makoti Festival is scheduled for April 26, 2025, at the Malkerns Country Club.

This year, the festival is expanding its reach across Eswatini, with media activations that already took place in South Africa (Mbombela), and Mozambique (Maputo). Notably, the festival will host its third leg of media activation in Lesotho on Friday (March 28, 2025).

This year’s festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of Eswatini culture, featuring an impressive line-up of renowned artists, including South African gospel legend Dr. Rebecca Malope, Maskandi powerhouse Khuzani “uGatsheni” Ndlovu, Phumla Music, Mozambique’s queen of Afro-beat Lizha James, DJ Supamanmusic , Ntate Stunna (Lesotho), Gogo Mpila, Kinga Kanga, Young Zesh, Shongwe Ne Khuphuka, Siyinqaba duo and Mshikishi.

Additionally, 11 local DJs will bring diverse sounds to the festival, enhancing the vibrant atmosphere.

The Makoti Festival aims to be a family-oriented event that celebrates Eswatini culture while honoring modern women, including both married and unmarried individuals, as well as young girls aspiring to embrace their identity as makotis. The festival will feature various activities, including fashion and food stalls, alongside live performances showcasing trendy fashion for women of all ages.
