SPECTACULAR SEND-OFF FOR OYMPICS TEAM IN PARIS, FRANCE

MBABANE – It was a life experience for the country’s Olympic team, as they witnessed a spectacular send-off during the closing ceremony on Sunday (August 11, 2024) in Paris, France.

The country’s team was led by athlete Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa who was the flag bearer at the Stade de France (Stadium). Entertaining the athletes before their departure included world known actor Tom Cruise and performances from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg among others.

The country’s team spend about 17 days in Paris, France as the games started on July 26 with the last day being Sunday.

The country was represented by three athletes being ‘Swazi Bolt’ swimmers Hayley Hoy and Chadd Ning. The country’s swimmers were knocked out in the first round on their debut while Matsenjwa reached the second round in 100m in his last appearance at the Olympics Games.

Part of the delegation that is set to arrive in the country on Tuesday (August 13, 2024) include the Chef De Mission, Athletics Eswatini (AE) President and EOCGA Vice-President Zakhele Dlamini while the General Manager was Thoba Mazibuko. Others were the Psychologist Lungi Khanya and Physiotherapist in Charmain Rudd.

The next games would be the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
