MBABANE – The Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) has expressed its joy and appreciation to the 8Bet Company.

The company announced a whopping E7.5 million sponsorship for the annual Trade Fair Knockout Tournament, which will be completed for by elite league teams. The sponsorship is spread over three years.

ESRC Senior Marketing and Communications Officer, Dumisani Ntiwane said they run out of words in trying to express their gratitude for the sponsorship.

“Football, like every other sport needs friends. It is friends like these that will ensure the sport thrives. We are so grateful to the company for such a benevolent and generous gesture. We are hopeful that the sponsorship will go a long way towards improving the standard of the game here.

We would also like to heartily congratulate the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) for clinching such a sponsorship. We are positive that this marriage between the two entities will last. The PLE also has an obligation to make sure that no violence erupts during the games because this then taints the name of the sponsor as well,” Ntiwane said.

He then appealed to soccer fans to make sure that they attend the matches and accept whatever results on the field of play.

“In football there are three results; a win, a draw and a loss. Soccer lovers should know that by now. We need to eliminate the scourge of violence in our game. Sponsors like these are hard to come by especially during such tough economic times,” he said.

Meanwhile, MulaSport also sponsored volleyball, netball, basketball and culture with E200 000 to be competed for during the durations of the Trade Fair. The Eswatini International Trade Fair starts August 30 to September 8, 2024.
