MBABANE – The Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darius Dlomo has urged the cricket Under-19 squad to shine in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda.
The team of 14 players bid farewell to the ESRC today in the morning (Monday, August 19, 2024) before their departure for Rwanda. Dlomo noted that cricket was among the well developing sport in the country and they had the potential of doing well in the qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Eswatini’s Under-19 Women’s Cricket Team is all set to face off against Nigeria in their first match on Wednesday (August 21, 2024) at the iconic Gahanga Stadium in Rwanda.
Our teams Eswatini will be facing include Botswana, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
The Eswatini Cricket Association (ECA) said this achievement holds immense significance not only for the team but for the whole nation, especially inspiring aspiring female cricketers. “The Under – 19 World Cup provides a platform for our young talents to shine and make a mark in the world of cricket.
This event will undoubtedly inspire more girls across Eswatini to take up the sport and follow their dreams. Let’s show our support and cheer for our Under-19 Women’s Cricket Team as they embark on this incredible journey.
