MBABANE – Despite the wrangle in the leadership of Mbabane Swallows, the team will continue to honour the Red Card GBV Football tournament in Witbank, South Africa this coming Saturday (August 3, 2024).
The teams made it clear the despite the power struggle at the club, they will be attending the four teams tournament where they face Tshwane University of Technology at 11am in the second semi-final game of the tournament.
“All scheduled games, including friendly matches in Witbank, South Africa, will continue as planned,” said the club.
During a press conference called by the team just this past morning (Thursday, August 1, 2024), the club Legal Advisor Welile Mabuza said there were two entities under the Mbabane Swallows name, and that was for Football Club (FC) and a company (Pty) Ltd.
This comes after the Council of Elders announced Princess Lungile, widow to the late Victor Gamedze as the Club Chairperson and that was disputed by the current Management Committee. Swallows further reported the matter to the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE).
Swallows will be travelling to the Red Card GBV Football tournament alongside Nsingizini Hotspurs, who are expected to play Middleburg at 9am. Mbabane Swallows will be travelling with their fans to the games that are expected to pay E300 return transport fee.
Mbabane Swallows will also miss the start of the MTN Premier League as they will be playing in the CAF Champions League preliminary round on August 16 and 25 against Mozambique C. Fer Da Beira.
