MBABANE – After their first leg win over Mozambique’s Clube Ferroviario da Beira in the CAF Champions League preliminary round, Mbabane Swallows have now set their eyes on the second preliminary round, with South Africa Mamelodi Sundowns on their way.
Swallows beat the Mozambican side 1-0 at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday night, through a goal from Karim Madja who scored in the second half.
The second leg match is billed for Sunday (August 25, 2024) at, Lalgy arena Stadium, Matola, Mozambique. Swallows now needs a draw or a win to advance to the next stage to face Mamelodi Sundowns.
Swallows Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge Ngwenya said while they still had a game to play but thy were setting the eyes on Mamelodi Sundowns. He said the team was determined to go to the next stage. Ngwenya was speaking during the Eswatini Broadcasting Information and Services (EBIS) Sports Show in the morning today (Monday, August 19, 2024).
“It will be a dream come true to play Mamelodi Sundowns and are relishing on realising that dream. We are already one step ahead and we had to complete what we started on Sunday Maputo,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ngwenya announced that their supporters will pay E310 for a return fee to Matola to watch the second leg match. He said registration and paying would close on Thursday and fees were likely to increase to E390 after the deadline on Thursday.
He said the transport fee exclude the entry fee that is yet to be confirmed. The fans are set to leave on Sunday morning for the afternoon clash.
Swallows had over 200 fans that travelled to Pretoria for the first leg match.
