MBABANE – Swimmers Hayley Hoy and Luca Fraser will compete against the finest athletes in Africa as they represent Eswatini in the 16th edition of the Africa Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships 2025.

The championships are scheduled to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from April 28 to May 3, 2025. The Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) announced on Thursday that the duo will be joined by Ndumiso Khoza, who will serve as the coach, and Bongiwe Dlamini, the team manager.

“The ESA is proud to announce the selection of a four-member team that will represent Eswatini at the Junior Africa Aquatics Championships in Cairo, Egypt, scheduled for April 28 to May 3, 2025. We wish the team all the best in their preparations for the championships and safe travels to Egypt,” reads a statement from ESA.

The championships are expected to feature teams from the 54 countries that are members of the Africa Aquatics organization, with the specific list of participating nations to be confirmed closer to the event.

The announcement of the team comes at a time when the ESA is still celebrating Luca Fraser for winning the Outstanding Junior Sportsman Award during the National Sports Awards held last Friday at Esibayeni Lodge, hosted by the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC).

“Huge congratulations to Luca Fraser for being named the Outstanding Junior Sportsman at the 5th National Sports Awards last Friday. His dedication, skill, and sportsmanship have inspired us all. What an incredible achievement! Your accomplishments are a source of national pride. Your talent and hard work have truly shone through. The ESA and the nation of Eswatini are immensely proud of you. We wish you continued success in the future,” the statement reads.
