MBABANE – The country’s swimmers Hayley Hoy and Luca Fraser will be up against hundreds of swimmers from across Africa during the Junior Africa Aquatics Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
The duo had already left the country for the competition set to take place at the iconic Cairo International Stadium from April 30 to May 3, 2025. Hoy and Fraser were announced last week as the country’s representative in the championships by the Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA).
Leading the squad is Ndumiso Khoza, who will serve as Coach while Bongiwe Dlamini is the team manager. The swimmers who were recently presented with some cash incentives by the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima early this month aims to make a strong impression on the continental stage and hoist the country’s flag high. Hayley Hoy got E65 000 while Fraser took home E45 000.
The Africa Junior Swimming Championships is one of the premier competitions for young swimmers across the continent, providing a vital platform for emerging talents to gain international experience and showcase their skills. Team Eswatini has been preparing intensively in the lead-up to the event and will be aiming for strong performances and potential podium finishes as they had done in past reginal and international competitions.
