MBABANE- The Hhohho Regional Teachers Awards Ceremony in Piggs Peak became a platform to celebrate the deep commitment of educators, particularly their crucial role in supporting the nation’s most vulnerable children. Principal Secretary Nanikie Mnisi of the Ministry of Education and Training commended the teachers, acknowledging that their influence often stretches far beyond teaching lessons.

This ceremony honored those who have truly excelled in the classroom, setting high standards for their colleagues.

PS Mnisi’s most heartfelt message was a call to recognize the life changing impact teachers have on students who lack support elsewhere. She reminded the educators that some children “depend solely on their teachers for direction in life.” This powerful statement underscored the essential need for teachers to continue offering comfort, quality education, and strong guidance.

The awards ceremony itself served to acknowledge the individuals who already embody this spirit of care and dedication, ensuring they are recognized for making a difference in the lives of children who need it most.

While celebrating the teachers’ personal dedication, PS Mnisi also used the event to highlight major changes coming to the education sector, ensuring that excellence in the classroom remains relevant to national goals. She updated the educators on reforms like the new Council of Educators Act and the expansion of the Competency Based Education (CBE) model, especially through the strengthening of Prevocational Education (PREVOC).

These awards ceremonies, held across different regions, do more than just give out prizes; they inspire a culture of excellence and motivate teachers to keep improving learning outcomes as they prepare to implement these important changes for the benefit of all students.
