THREE ESCAPED INMATES APREHENDED

MBABANE – The three inmates that have been reported to have escaped from the Mbabane Correctional Centre have since been apprehended.

His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) officers are the ones that captured the inmates, according to a statement issued by the Public Relations Office of the HMCS. “The HMCS wishes to inform members of the public that the three inmates who escaped from lawful custody at Mbabane Correctional Centre (Sidvwashini) yesterday have since been apprehended by correctional officers,” said part of the statement.

According to the statement, Vusani Leonel Dlamini (33), Emmanuel Marikito Magaya (23) and Siboniso Chudze Mavuso (26) were captured near Ngwenya on their way to cross the border into neighbouring South Africa and they are currently kept in one of our facilities.

“As a department, we wish to express our deepest appreciation to all members of the public who upon receiving news of the break-out, showed their interest and will to assist in the apprehension of the escapees. We further wish to thank the Royal Eswatini Police Service who were also assisting with the case,” the department said.

The three inmates, according to the statement, were Remands (Unconvicted) who were awaiting trial for crimes including; House Breaking and Theft, Armed Robbery as well as Rape under the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act.
