MBABANE – Sprinter Bongiwe Mahlalela has garnered significant recognition for her outstanding international performances.
The current leading athlete in both the 100m and 200m events has been acknowledged by the Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa for her remarkable contributions to athletics on the global stage. Furthermore, she has been nominated for the prestigious Sportswoman of the Year award.
Mahlalela has spent the past two years in South Africa, where she has been diligently training and competing at an elevated level. Athletics Eswatini (AE) has expressed immense pride in her accomplishments and the accolades she has received.
“Exciting News! One of our elite athletes, Bongiwe Mahlalela, has been recognised by Tshwane University of Technology for her exceptional international participation. She has also been nominated for Sportswoman of the Year. We are incredibly proud of Bongiwe’s achievements and the recognition she has garnered. Keep soaring to new heights, Bongiwe,” stated AE.
Mahlalela has ascended to the position of the nation’s premier sprinter following the retirement of Phumlile Ndzinisa. She has dominated both the 100m and 200m events within the country and has represented Eswatini in various international competitions, where she has excelled. Unfortunately, she narrowly missed qualifying for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
