Nxumalo said His Majesty King Mswati III has emphasised that Government, through the Ministry of Education and Training, should pay more attention to the TVET sector. According to the minister, the King is of the view that the TVET sector had a capacity of alleviating unemployment, as it gave the students skills do to work that was mostly practical, which could help them secure jobs within a short space of time.

Nxumalo said as the Acting Principal (Henry Khumalo) mentioned earlier, the programmes at ECOT were designed to equip you with the skills necessary to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of technology and innovation.

“This world is changing rapidly, and it is your creativity and knowledge that will help you navigate these changes. The diploma you are receiving today is more than just a piece of paper; it is the key to endless possibilities,” Nxumalo said.

The minister expressed gratitude to the industry partners who have joined hands with ECOT to improve the standard of education. “Your support has been instrumental in ensuring that our graduates are well-prepared for the future, equipped with not only academic knowledge but also practical skills that meet the demands of the modern workforce,” he said.

He also extended gratitude to the companies that have stepped forward to recognise and reward the best ECOT achievers. “Your commitment to celebrating excellence motivates our graduates to push their boundaries and strive for greatness. These awards are not just accolades. They are symbols of what hard work and dedication can achieve,” he pointed out.

Additionally, Nxumalo thanked the Taiwan Technical Mission for its unwavering support and contributions to the development of this institution. They provided ECOT with the state of the art equipment that positively impact on skills development, according to the minister.

“Your collaboration with ECOT has enriched the learning environment, providing students with opportunities that foster innovation and excellence. We are grateful for your continued partnership,” he said.

He reminded the graduates that success was not just about the jobs they got or the titles they earned. He described success as being about the impact the students made on society. “It is about how you contribute to your community, your country, and the world. Wherever your journey takes you, whether starting your own business, continuing your studies, or joining the workforce—do it with a sense of purpose and a drive to make a positive difference,” Nxumalo concluded.
