MBABANE – The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) announced that it had embarked on a mission to extend its services to the people.
The leadership at the defence organisation recognised the importance of establishing and maintaining good relations with Emaswati across all four regions of the country. UEDF Commander Lieutenant General Mashikilisane Fakudze stated that it was essential for the nation to understand the role of the UEDF, while conversely, the UEDF should be aware of the expectations the nation has of them.
During a press conference held by the UEDF, the organisation declared its intention to initiate this significant initiative by providing services in the Shiselweni Region. Consequently, the Shiselweni Region will be the first to receive various services rendered by the UEDF.
Mfanawenkhosi Khumalo, who represented Fakudze at the press conference, revealed that the UEDF would be present at Sihlutse, under the Hosea Constituency in the Shiselweni Region, on Saturday, 15 February 2025. He noted that health professionals from the UEDF, including nurses and doctors, would be offering medical treatment to residents of Shiselweni free of charge.
Khumalo also mentioned that the Ministry of Defence and National Security, in collaboration with the local authority of Sihlutse, had prepared certain gifts to be distributed to households and families in need of support. He further informed the public that the air wing of the UEDF would also be present, showcasing the organisation’s helicopters to demonstrate the capabilities of its air division.
Khumalo expressed gratitude to members of the public for their cooperation with the soldiers, particularly those stationed along the country’s borders. He indicated that some soldiers assigned to border duties would be present to discuss their intentions for collaboration with the nation moving forward.
