This bible verse rings true for our very own Uncle Waffles who last week got a chance to present an award with The Prince of Wales at the 2024 Earthshot Prize Awards in Cape Town.
Born Lungelihle Zwane (24) wore one of her signature designs, a knee high slit jean-skirt with a halter neck bronze crop top and finished off the look with gold open toes sandals, while the Prince wore a grey blazer with navy pants and white sneakers.
Uncle Waffles went on to perform at the awards ceremony and her set impressed the British royals family members and other celebrities who were in attendance including Heidi Klum, Robert Irwin, Nomzamo Mbatha and other a- listers.
The 2024 Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony took place on 6 November in Cape Town, South Africa. A series of high-profile guests attended the event, including Prince William, who created the initiative in 2020, awarding for the first prize in 2021.
Along with the British royal family member, Prince William was joined by supermodel Heidi Klum, who styled a vibrant orange flowing dress with an asymmetric neckline. Billy Porter also attended the event; wearing a black and white suit with an abstract pattern. The Earthshot Prize initiative was started by Prince William to engage with the on-going impacts of climate change, inspiring scientists to incorporate their research into new technology to combat global warming
In August, Uncle Waffles she made history as the first Amapiano act to perform at the Brooklyn Mirage in New York, in the United States of America (USA).The show, dubbed We Love Waffles had a surprise act, which was American rapper and actor Jo-Vaughn Virginne Scott’s stage name, Joey Bada$$. It also featured South African artists as well, namely Andre Power, Bambii, Kelvin Momo, 2WO Bunnies, and Oscar Mbo. The show was also broadcast live on Amazon Music it featured
The Eswatini-born DJ, who boasts 2.8 million followers on Instagram, is also a record producer based in South Africa. She was featured in Rolling Stone magazine in December. According to one of her pages, Waffles has been recognised by Rolling Stones, Forbes, CNN Variety, The New York Times, and Complex UK for her insane accomplishments throughout 2023, spanning from Solace and Asylum Extended Playlist EP releases, Coachella performances, and sold-out shows in New York.
She is noted for her work in the Amapiano genre and dance abilities, with Billboard describing her as the Princess of Amapiano. Waffles debut single, titled Tanzania, reached number one and went platinum in South Africa. She has gained the attention of some of the world’s biggest names, including Canadian rapper Drake. The world got to know about DJ after Drake shared a photo of her and sent a shout-out to her.
