MBABANE – The Junior Achievement (JA) Eswatini team has once again demonstrated excellence on an international stage, earning three prestigious awards at the JA Africa Company of the Year (COY 2024) competition held in Mauritius.
While representing Eswatini, the Vulamasango team, operating under the name Agri Tech Solutions, developed an innovative agricultural technology described as a groundbreaking electro-culture generator. The system delivers a low electric current directly to plant roots through drip irrigation, seamlessly integrating with existing agricultural systems. This current reportedly stimulates water uptake, enhances nutrient absorption, promotes root growth, and may even encourage nitrogen fixation, marking a significant advancement in agricultural practices.
Moreover, As they competed against other exceptional participants from across Africa, the team secured the Best Client Focus Award, the Best Girls Lead Award, and the distinguished title of 3rd Place in Africa, further solidifying their reputation for innovation and excellence.
Speaking on behalf of the Eswatini Correctional Services, Assistant Chief Officer and Deputy PRO Baphelele Kunene expressed profound pride and appreciation for the students’ outstanding performance. Kunene extended gratitude to the students and teachers for their hard work, highlighting the team’s accomplishments as a testament to their dedication.
He also acknowledged Junior Achievement Eswatini for creating platforms that enable students to showcase their talents on a global stage. Additionally, Kunene expressed deep appreciation for the support of sponsors, particularly Standard Bank, whose contributions were instrumental in making the students’ participation in the competition possible.
Junior Achievement Eswatini Executive Director Phetsile Masilela commended the team for their extraordinary innovation and determination.
“This achievement is a clear indication of the immense talent and potential of our youth. At Junior Achievement Eswatini, we strive to empower young minds, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see these efforts translating into such remarkable success.
