MBABANE – Young Buffaloes Ladies team left the country for Malawi on Tuesday in style.
The team was well dressed in suits as they bid farewell to the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) who supported them financially in their journey. They were bid farewell by EFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu.
Young Buffaloes Ladies return for a third year running at the tournament to be staged in Blantyre, Malawi from August 15 to 24, 2024.
Young Buffaloes Ladies have been hugely dominant in the domestic league as they won the championship in 2022/ 23/ and 2023/ 24. In 2022 they won the league by winning all of their 24 games, scoring 221 goals and not conceding a single one!
They are facing a tough task in this year’s edition as they have been drawn in Group B and open their campaign against ‘home’ (Malawi) side Ascent Academy on Friday (August 16, 2024).
According to the fixtures released by cosafa.com, two days later they will face debutants Gaborone United from Botswana, before they finish their pool play against UD de Lichinga from Mozambique on August 20.
The top two teams in each pool advance to the semi-finals, with only the winner of the competition earning a place at the continental finals.
