MBABANE – Montigny Investments has not been affected by wild fires because of the good relations it has with its stakeholders.

The wild fires are currently set by unknown people around the country. The fires have resulted in burnt pastures and that affects livestock because they have nothing to eat. Forests and other properties have also been burnt, resulting in civil lives and properties being negatively affected by this.

However, Montigny Investments has not been affected by this, according to Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta-Simelane. The minister said this yesterday (Thursday, July 18, 2024) when she toured the Bhunya Mill, which is operated by Montigny Investments.

The minister said inside the many forests owned by Montigny Investments, there were homes that were occupied by Emaswati. She said what she observed during her visits was that there were no forests belonging to Montigny that were burnt. Mkhonta-Simelane said this was due to the fact that Montigny was able to have good relations with the ordinary people who lived within their forests.

Mkhonta-Simelane also expressed gratitude to chiefs who lead communities that are neighbouring the Montigny forests. She said the chiefs continued to ensure that strict measures were taken to ensure that people did not burn anything without getting written permission from the Royal Kraal (Umphakatsi) of that community.
