MBABANE – World Vision Eswatini has gifted 40 young men with 40 infinity bikes to Gege cycling club.
The bicycles include helmets, cycling clothes, and glasses.
According to information gathered by this publication, the motorbikes have become tools that help these young men, aged 19 to 35, to stay away from drugs and crime. They have formed the Gege Cycling Club, bringing together members from Nsukazi, Sidwala, Tsambekwako, and Mlindazwe.
Senzo Mabelesa, a member of the club, said “These bicycles have made a huge difference. Instead of getting involved in crime or doing nothing all day, we now have a reason to be active. We use our bikes not just for transport, but to keep roads safer by herding cattle, to stay fit, and to connect with each other. I can see how my health has improved, and that means a lot to me.”
It is said that the club members are setting their sights on bigger goals. They see themselves entering local cycling tournaments and competitions, including the Enjabulweni Border-to-Border race and the MTN Eswatini Khemani Road Cycle Classic.
As job opportunities become increasingly scarce in Eswatini, these young men have found a way to stay active, come together, and feel proud. The Gege Cycling Club is more than just a group of cyclists. It is a sign of hope, showing that with the right support, even difficult problems can be overcome.
