WOUNDED ‘BULL’ FACES HIGH FLYING ‘BIRDS’ IN MTN LEAGUE MBABANE DERBY

MBABANE – It will be more of like the Bible story of ‘Goliath’ vs David when struggling Mbabane Highlanders hosts high flying Mbabane Swallows in the Mbabane derby under match seven of the MTN Premier League.

The biggest match in the country would be played on Sunday at Mavuso Sports Centre, kick-off 3pm. Swallows who are the defending champions of the MTN Premier League seats top of the table with 15 points from six games while Mbabane Highlanders are third from the bottom (Excluding games that are due to be played on Wednesday).

Swallows goes to the game having lost one fixture, 1-0 against Moneni Pirates while Mbabane Highlanders have recorded one victory against Sidvwashini United from the five games they have played so far.

Mbabane Swallows were 3-0 victorious the last time the two sides clashed on May 5, 2024 while the two previous games ended with a 1-all draw in 2023.

The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) insisted that the fixture will go on despite Highlanders facing administration issues. The team’s Director South African Ally Kgomongwe is up in arms with some of the officials in the club concerning the welfare of the team. Highlanders even requested from the PLE to have the match postponed but they request was rejected.

The PLE released week seven of the MTN Premier League on Tuesday afternoon with the rest of the games to be played on Saturday.

A double header is billed for Mayaluka Stadium were Madlenya will be first to hosts Green Mamba at 1pm and Illovo will be next against Moneni Pirates at 3:30pm.

Manzini Sea Birds will be visited by Nsingizini Hotspurs at Simunye Stadium while Rangers will hosts Young Buffaloes at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium, with both games starting at 3pm. Royal Leopard will hosts Sisonkhe at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre and Sidvwashini united will play Ezulwini United at Prince of Wales Sports Ground, kick-offs 3pm.

Then there is the big one on Sunday at Mavuso Sports Centre between the rivals, Mbabane Highlanders and Mbabane Swallows. The PLE also released the MTN National First Division League fixtures:
