MBABANE – Young Buffaloes Ladies team will travel to Malawi for the CAF Women’s League/ COSAFA Qualifiers set for August.
Buffaloes Ladies qualified for the tournament by virtue of being the champions of the Eswatini Women’s Football League. According to the Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) the tournament which Buffaloes Ladies will be making their second appearance will take place in Blantyre, Malawi, this year from August 15-24, with the winner to advance to the showpiece continental finals (Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Champions League.
The draw dates where Buffaloes Ladies will know their opponents is yet to be announced . The eight teams will be drawn into two pools of four clubs each, with the top two in each group advancing to the semi-finals. Only the winner earns a place at the finals to join South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns as representatives from the Southern African region in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Buffaloes Ladies were awarded with their prizes under the Eswatini Women’s Football League last week. It was Manzini Wanderers Ladies who debuted for the country in the tournament in 2021.
Young Buffaloes Ladies have gone out in the group stages in the last two years.
The teams to compete in the tournament will come from countries including Malawi (Hosts), Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Eswatini and Mozambique.
