YOUNG ZESH TO IGNITE MAKOTI FESTIVAL’S 4th EDITION STAGE

MALKERNS – Rising Afro-pop sensation Young Zesh has been announced as the first local artist to perform at the upcoming Makoti Festival’s 4th edition.

Young Zesh, whose real name is Mzwandile Comfort Ginindza (24), was recently crowned Outstanding Afro-pop Artist at the 2024 National Arts and Culture Awards (NACA). The festival’s director, Thembinkosi Mthethwa, confirmed his participation on February 3, 2025.

The highly anticipated Makoti Festival will take place on April 26, 2025, at Malkerns Country Club, hosted by New Life Entertainment in collaboration with the Illa Penboy Foundation.

Young Zesh joins an exciting lineup that includes South African Maskandi powerhouse Khuzani, known as “uGatsheni” Ndlovu. This announcement solidifies Young Zesh as the first local act to be revealed for the festival.

Young Zesh Expresses Excitement

Speaking about the opportunity, an elated Young Zesh shared his gratitude for being part of Makoti Festival’s expanding brand.

“I’m beyond excited! This is an opportunity to tap into a new audience, and I can’t wait to deliver an electrifying performance at the festival,” he said.

Tickets Now Available

Festival organizers have announced that tickets are now on sale. General pre-sale tickets are priced at E200, while VIP tickets are available for E500 (valid only for February purchases).

Young Zesh’s Recent Musical Achievements

Young Zesh continues to make waves in the music industry. On January 31, 2025, he was featured on the hit single ‘Mina Nawe’ by South African artist Senzo Africa, alongside Mlindo The Vocalist and Masiano. The song has been released on all digital streaming platforms.

A native of Somnjalose, Young Zesh gained national recognition for his record-breaking hit ‘KaKhoza’. His rise to stardom was further cemented last year when he secured six NACA nominations, ultimately winning the Outstanding Afro-Pop Award.

Makoti Festival’s Legacy

Last year’s edition of the Makoti Festival boasted an impressive lineup, featuring:

  • Ntokozo Mbambo (award-winning South African gospel artist)
  • Nomcebo Zikode (Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter)
  • Mavele & Tash (Lesotho artists)
  • DJ Menkoko, DJ Tseko, and Sotho Kids
  • Tufo Mafalala (dance group from Mozambique)
  • Masibuyele KuJehova and Mthandeni SK

The festival also celebrated 11 local artists, including Mvelo, Lodanda Nemalangeni, Thobile Makhoyane, Bholoja, M Nation, DJ Cup, Tendeness, Jazz in Soul, Wassabee, Speech Umlangeni, and Khole.

The Makoti Festival is more than just a music event; it is a celebration of Eswatini’s rich culture. This family-oriented festival highlights the essence of modern women, honoring both married and unmarried women, as well as young girls aspiring to be future makotis.

In addition to live performances, the festival will feature:
