MBABANE – One Year Later: The Gospel project that changed Eswatini’s Music Industry!
One year after its historic live recording, A New Dawn continues to stand as one of the most impactful gospel music projects ever produced in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
On 7 June 2025, thousands of worshippers filled the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre to witness renowned gospel minister HRH Nothando Hlophe record what would become a landmark live album. More than just a musical production, the event represented a bold statement about the future of Eswatini’s creative industry and its ability to deliver world-class content rooted in faith, culture, and excellence.
Released in October 2025 under Genesis Lokuhle, A New Dawn features 13 songs and runs for more than one hour and 46 minutes. The album brought together an impressive lineup of gospel artists, including Faith Khanyile, Sands, Xolly Mncwango, Rofhiwa Manyaga, Linda Ndaba, and Musa Skosana, creating a worship experience that has resonated with audiences across Eswatini, Southern Africa, and beyond.
Songs such as Awuwedwa, Sikunika Ludvumo, Angiyi Ndawo, Sinikiwe Igama, and Sithumela Wena quickly became favourites among worshippers, helping establish the project as one of the most talked-about gospel releases to emerge from Eswatini in recent years.
The live recording itself was widely regarded as a milestone for the country’s music industry. Attendees experienced world-class stage design, lighting, sound engineering, visual storytelling, and musical excellence that set a new benchmark for local productions. Beyond the technical achievement, the project embodied a message of hope, renewal, and spiritual awakening, reflecting the vision Her Royal Highness Nothando Hlophe set out to share through the album.

A major force behind the success of A New Dawn was Genesis Ekucaleni Media, the executive producer company responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight throughout the project. From concept development to execution, the company played a critical role in transforming the recording into a lasting movement. Guided by a commitment to Kingdom impact, artistic excellence, and sustainability, Genesis Ekucaleni Media helped create a project whose influence continues to grow a year later. The organisation’s Patron is Minister of Foreign Affairs Honourable Pholile Shakantu.
The vision was brought to life by Lokuhle Media Group, the project’s official production company and producer. The company coordinated every aspect of the production journey, including planning, creative direction, artist management, media strategy, technical production, and event execution. Working alongside a highly skilled team of musicians, technicians, creatives, and support staff, Lokuhle Media Group delivered a production that met international standards while maintaining the authentic spiritual atmosphere that defined the event.
The project also benefited from significant corporate support through Eswatini Mobile, which invested E500,000 in sponsorship. The contribution marked one of the largest corporate investments ever made in a gospel music project in Eswatini and demonstrated the company’s commitment to supporting local talent and the creative economy. Following the success of A New Dawn, Eswatini Mobile announced plans to invest millions of Emalangeni into the arts sector through music initiatives, live events, mentorship programmes, and creative development projects.
The album’s impact is perhaps best reflected in its remarkable streaming performance. During the past 365 days, A New Dawn recorded 13,587,043 streams on Spotify, attracted 2.2 million listeners worldwide, generated 568,000 saves, achieved 200,000 playlist additions, and built a following of 121,000 followers. On Apple Music, the project added a further 3,287,733 streams.
Combined, the album has generated more than 16.8 million streams across Spotify and Apple Music within its first year—an extraordinary achievement for a gospel project originating from Eswatini.
The growth trajectory remains strong. Over the last 90 days, the project generated more than 5.3 million combined streams across both platforms. During the last 30 days, it achieved more than 1.67 million streams, while the past seven days alone delivered over 290,000 streams. These figures demonstrate that A New Dawn continues to attract new audiences and maintain relevance long after its initial release.
Beyond the impressive numbers, the album has become a significant milestone for Eswatini’s music industry. For many years, local artists have demonstrated exceptional talent while facing challenges related to funding, infrastructure, distribution, and international exposure. The success of A New Dawn has shown that artists from the Kingdom can produce globally competitive projects, secure major sponsorships, and connect with audiences around the world without losing their cultural and spiritual identity.
The project has also highlighted the power of collaboration. Through the visionary leadership of Genesis Ekucaleni Media, the production expertise of Lokuhle Media Group, the transformative support of Eswatini Mobile, and the ministry of HRH Nothando Hlophe, A New Dawn has become more than a successful album. It has become a model for what can be achieved when talent is supported by professional structures, strategic investment, and a shared commitment to excellence.
As A New Dawn celebrates its first anniversary, its legacy extends far beyond streaming milestones. The project has raised industry standards, inspired confidence in local creatives, opened doors for emerging artists, and strengthened Eswatini’s position within Africa’s growing creative economy.
Most importantly, it has given hope to a new generation of artists who now understand that dreams born in Eswatini can reach audiences across the world.
One year later, the message remains clear: A New Dawn was never just an album—it was the beginning of a new era.
