MBABANE – The future of education in Eswatini just got a brighter boost.

Classrooms around the country are set to be transformed, thanks to a generous donation from Computers for Africa—a Scotland-based organization committed to bridging digital and literacy gaps.

The Ministry of Education has proudly received 200 computers and 10 000 reading books, a significant step toward nurturing young minds with both technology and the written word.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Acting Director Cabsile Nxumalo expressed deep gratitude.

“We receive this donation with grateful hearts,” she said.

“These books will help improve literacy and promote the culture of reading in our schools.”

Minister of Education Owen Nxumalo echoed the excitement, emphasizing the importance of the contribution in shaping the country’s educational journey. “Today is a very special day for Eswatini’s education system,” he remarked.

“This gift will help improve learning in schools across the country and ensure every child has access to books and technology.”

In collaboration with the Eswatini Literacy Project and the Eswatini Scouts Association, the ministry has been working diligently to enhance learning outcomes. And the good news doesn’t stop here—an even larger donation is on the horizon. “In October, we look forward to receiving 50 000 more books and 1 500 more computers,” the minister revealed.

The resources will be prioritized for primary schools, laying a strong foundation in reading and computer skills for the youngest learners. “It is vital for these young kids to start learning computer literacy skills at a very young age,” Nxumalo noted.

“That’s how we ensure they excel in their studies.”

Special appreciation was also extended to Ezekiel Malenya and the team from Scotland who visited in February and helped initiate the partnership. Nxumalo commended the initiative for aligning with Eswatini’s national vision of quality education under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mswati III.

With this partnership now formalized, the Ministry is set to begin distributing the books and computers to schools nationwide—turning today’s investment into tomorrow’s transformation.
