Mbabane – Over 500 residents of Siphocosini Constituency yesterday received free medical treatment.

The free medical service was as a result of collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health and local churches under the constituency.

In fact, it was one of the programs undertaken by the Health Promotion Unit under the Ministry. This publication gathered that the residents got medical check-ups and treatment for various ailments including diarrhoea, cholera among others.

Speaking to Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Service (EBIS), Health Promotions Officer Sidumo Lukhele emphasised the importance of such partnerships between the Government and community organisations.

“Where there were games organised by the churches, they invited the Ministry to work with them. We got an opportunity to test and educate about different types of cancers, we also tested HIV and COVID-19. We also got to educate mpox flu which is predominant these days,” Lukhele said.

The event was part of a sports day organised by churches under the Siphocosini Constituency. These churches included Alliance, Pentecostal and Temple of Christ Churches among others. Lukhele encouraged other constituencies to follow suit and invite the Ministry to attend their gatherings as a means of reaching many people with important health information.
