MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III has amended the Executive Command structure of His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS).
The realignment brings the structure in line with regional SADC standards, reflecting the Kingdom’s continued commitment to excellence and international best practices.
Previously, HMCS had an inverted command chain where the Commissioner ranked above the Deputy Commissioner General, a unique setup that stood out within the region. In his capacity as the Commissioner General-in-Chief of HMCS, His Majesty corrected this anomaly by establishing the Deputy Commissioner General rank directly below the Commissioner General, followed by the Commissioner rank.
As part of this strategic restructuring, His Majesty also announced key appointments that signal a fresh era of leadership. Vusi Kunene has been promoted to the prestigious role of Deputy Commissioner General. Joining the upper echelon of command, Vusana Davies Zwane and Nomkhosi Maseko have both been elevated to the rank of Commissioner.
These appointments, made ahead of the 17th Correctional Day, are expected to inspire new momentum and professionalism within the department, boosting morale and reinforcing a leadership model that aligns with modern correctional standards.
This bold step reflects the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to building a highly efficient and respected correctional system that upholds justice, rehabilitation, and human dignity.
