LOBAMBA – Minister of Public Works and Transport Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe has told senators that the new government fleet will be delivered next month.
Speaking in parliament today, the minister assured senators that all government departments that requested new wheels will receive their vehicles as from next month.
The minister explained that the fleet will be dispatched across govt departments.
“The dealers have already started delivering and the total is 741 cars,” he told this publication.
Last month, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Public Works and Transport Thulani Mkhaliphi told the PAC that government had intended to procure 1000 vehicles but due to inflation the figure had to drop to 800.
The procurement of the vehicles is expected to improve services that were crippled by the shortage of transport.
It has been reported that the estimated budget of the procurement is between E600 and E700 million, which would be spread over three to five years.
