MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III envisions a merger of two of the country’s cities, which is Mbabane and Manzini.
The King said this yesterday (Monday, July 1, 2024) when he opened Matsapha and Manzini Lifestyle Centres. The King said this when delivering his speech, after touring the centres.
When delivering his speech, His Majesty the King said he remembered that His Majesty King Sobhuza II envisioned a merger between Matsapha and Manzini when he was still the one on the Throne.
King Mswati III further said what King Sobhuza II said was coming to be realised, as people could see that in no time, these urban areas would have merged. The rate at which the country was developing would make that happen.
His Majesty further said the rate at which the development was happening in the country, he had no doubt that as time went on, Mbabane and Manzini would merge.
The lifestyle centres opened by the King, according to Eswatini TV, are worth around E635 million. The King started by touring the Matsapha Lifestyle Centre, which is worth around E455 million. He then opened the centre, after touring it.
The Matsapha Lifestyle Centre has many different shops, which have employed around 900 people. The King further toured the Manzini Lifestyle Centre, which was build earlier than that of Matsapha.
The Manzini Lifestyle Centre is worth around E180 million. The King then opened the Manzini Lifestyle Centre. Around 600 people have been employed in this centre.
When touring these centres, the King was able to buy certain goods from some shops, such as the SuperSpar. The employees of the centres could not hold their excitement upon seeing the King touring their workplaces. Some of the Workers even got an opportunity to take pictures with him.
