MBABANE – Already, some of the five countries who will be represented in the Southern African Teachers Organisation (SATO) 2024 Games to be held in Lobamba have started arriving in the country.
Eswatini will hosts the annual 2024 SATO Games to be attended by teachers from association coming from five countries including South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Lesotho and Mozambique.
The games to include football, athletics, netball, volleyball, basketball will be played at Somhlolo National Stadium and Olympia Africa Technical Centre on Friday and Saturday.
Lesotho Association of Teachers and the Botswana Teachers Union were the first to arrive in the country on Thursday and Zambia National Union Teachers, SADTU (South Africa) and ONP (Mozambique) were due to arrive by late Thursday.
The games were held in Botswana last year where about 5 000 teachers attended and the same number is expected in the country.
When handed the rights to hosts the games, The Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNTA) estimated that they were going to need about E2 million to successfully hosts the games. SNTA President Mbongwa Dlamini is the current SATO President after being elected in Botswana last during the games.
