MBABANE – Justice Figareido, Eswatini’s international star, is set for a significant challenge as his team, Richards Bay FC, faces South African giants Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32.
Both teams are active in the Betway Premiership, with Figareido being one of six international players from Eswatini and the only one representing a South African elite club. Richards Bay, based in KwaZulu-Natal, will host the Buccaneers, who are looking to secure another hat-trick in the prestigious tournament. The match details, including venues and kickoff times, will be announced by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) soon.
Richards Bay is battling relegation in the Betway Premiership, sitting 14th on the log after 13 matches. In contrast, Orlando Pirates hold second place, trailing leaders and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns by three points, with both teams having played 11 games. The Buccaneers are also competing in the CAF Champions League.
When the two teams last met on November 5, 2024, Orlando Pirates emerged victorious. Richards Bay will now aim to defy the odds and upset the tournament’s defending champions.
Other notable fixtures in the Nedbank Cup draw include fallen giants Kaizer Chiefs taking on Free Agents, while Mamelodi Sundowns will face Sibanye Golden Stars.
