MPOLONJENI – His Majesty King Mswati III has called for the installation of floodlights at Eswatini’s technical centres to enhance accessibility and maximize their use.

During his visit to the Mpolonjeni Constituency Centre on March 13, 2025, where he handed over several projects, the King shared his vision for improved sports infrastructure. This follows his tour of the KaLanga Technical Centre, located in the Lugongolweni Constituency in the Lubombo Region.

Expressing gratitude to the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) for supporting the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) in the construction of the KaLanga Technical Centre, His Majesty emphasized the importance of upgrading these facilities. He also recently visited the Mkhuzweni Technical Centre, situated in the Mayiwane Constituency in the Hhohho Region, where he observed key areas needing improvement.

The King noted that both technical centres lacked proper lighting and running tracks—essential elements for fostering sports development. He highlighted the need for these improvements to ensure that Emaswati, especially students, could fully utilize the facilities.

Furthermore, His Majesty stressed the importance of allowing these centres to be operational even at night, enabling more people to engage in physical activities and maintain a healthy lifestyle. He also called for the facilities to be upgraded to meet FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards, ensuring they are capable of hosting high-profile matches.

This initiative aligns with Eswatini’s broader goal of advancing sports infrastructure and promoting community wellness through enhanced accessibility and professional sporting opportunities.
