NATIONAL WOMEN SPORTS DAY IN HLATIKHULU: A TRIUMPH FOR RIGHTS, EQUALITY, AND EMPOWERMENT

MBABANE – The Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) successfully hosted the National Women Sports Day in Hlatikhulu on Friday, April 11, 2025, under the inspiring theme: “For All Women & Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment.

“The event was graced by prominent government officials, including the Honorable Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, and the Council’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Darius Dlomo, highlighting the government’s strong commitment to women’s empowerment in sports.

The day was vibrant and action-packed, featuring a diverse range of sporting activities such as athletics, boxing, cricket, checkers, netball, Teqball, and taekwondo, among others. Women and girls from various communities enthusiastically participated, showcasing their talents and determination, which made the event a true celebration of female athleticism and empowerment.

Attendees were also treated to refreshments, including Iwisa Mahewu, Emlembe water, and KFC meals, generously provided by the event’s partners and sponsors. This thoughtful gesture added to the festive atmosphere and demonstrated the collaborative spirit behind the event.

The National Women Sports Day in Hlatikhulu was more than just a sporting event; it was a powerful statement of support for gender equality and the rights of women and girls in Eswatini. The presence of government leaders underscored the official backing for initiatives that promote women’s participation and leadership in sports.
