MAHLANYA – Rising hip hop and afro-pop artist Mpendulo Nsibandze, better known by his stage name Tweestar Lepopinyana, is making waves once again with his latest single, “Pop It Up.”
The 29-year-old artist from Mahlanya brings both passion and perseverance to the track, offering fans an authentic glimpse into his musical journey.
“Pop It Up” is part of a larger project titled “New Chapter,” which Tweestar began working on last year. Although the full project has yet to be released, the single serves as a bold reintroduction to his sound and story. “It’s a historical layout of how I started in the music industry back in high school,” he shares. “It became something I realized I could take seriously.”
Infused with rich afro-pop elements and a lively instrumental vibe, “Pop It Up” delivers an irresistible rhythm paired with a powerful message: never give up on your dreams. “Even if it seems hard, continue pushing,” says Tweestar. “Vukuyibambe wherever you are, the world is waiting for your unique sound.”
The song features production by Nigerian beatmakers Valdozzy and Skimzid, while Tweestar himself handled the producing, mixing, mastering, and even the visuals. “I’m solo on the track,” he adds. “Everything you hear and see, I worked on myself.”
Currently available on YouTube, the track was intentionally released there first to reach long-time supporters who may not have access to platforms like Spotify. “It’s a wake-up alarm for my fans to let them know I still do music,” says Tweestar, who has paused releases since last year.
Fans can also find a visualizer for “Pop It Up” on YouTube under Tweestar Lepopinyana, with an official music video still in the works. The song is expected to be available on additional streaming platforms by the second week of April.
In addition to his latest single, Tweestar has released two other tracks: “Umpando 503,” featuring Torrah, Tinno, and Lizwe Umlangeni, and “Falling For You,” featuring Lil Kid Mike, all available now on YouTube.
As Tweestar steps into this new chapter, “Pop It Up” is more than just a song; it’s a statement of resilience, originality, and the power of chasing your dreams.
