PREMIER LEAGUE OF ESWATINI WARNS FANS AGAINST FAKE TICKETS AFTER WEEKEND INCIDENT

MBABANE– The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has issued a stern warning to football fans following an alarming incident involving fake ticket sales last weekend. Authorities apprehended three suspects believed to be selling counterfeit tickets to unsuspecting fans at a recent league match.

The PLE expressed deep concern over the incident and emphasized the potential risks posed by fraudulent ticket distribution, not only in terms of financial loss but also safety and stadium security. In a public statement, the league urged all supporters to avoid purchasing tickets from unauthorized individuals or platforms.

“Following a recent incidents where individuals were caught with fake tickets, some of whom have been arrested, the PLE strongly urges fans  to purchase tickets only from authorized outlets.” Reads a statement posted in their Facebook page.

It also outlined some of the authorized places across the four regions of the country. In the Lubombo at Matata, Simunye, Siteki,Mpaka, and Sikhuphe tickets are available at MTN E-top up . Mhlume at Pick Yours. For Hhohho region Pigg’s Peak,  Mbabane Ezulwini tickets will be available at MTN E-top up and also at Total Filling Station at Zulwini and MTN E-top up woodlands. Buhleni, at Mitra Filling station, Engene Gcwalisa King Pie at Mbabane.

Manzini will have tickets at Manzini Engene Nazarene, Puma ( opposite GV centre) Bhunu Mall, MTN connect shop ( Cardo square). Matsapha at MTN E-top up ( Matsapha lifestyle and shop at Varsity corner). Under the Shiselweni region tickets will be available at Nhlangano MTN E-top up next to boxer and opposite shoprite. Official prize for the ticket is E30 for single header and E50 double header.

The PLE reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with security officials to prevent future occurrences and to ensure that all fans enjoy a safe and fair matchday experience. Additional measures, including increased security and ticket verification procedures, are being considered.

Fans are encouraged to report any suspicious ticket-selling activities to the authorities or PLE representatives.

As the league continues to grow in popularity, officials stress the importance of safeguarding its operations from fraud and protecting the interests of genuine supporters.
