MBABANE — Special Olympics Eswatini in collaboration with Eswatini National Provident Fund will host an inclusive dance competition at Zakhele Sports Ground tommorow, showcasing the talents of athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities through dynamic performances.
The competition that is celebrated under the theme “choose to include” aims to promoting inclusion and self-expression, will feature a diverse lineup of performances, including solo and group dances, as well as unified routines that pair athletes with and without disabilities. These performances go beyond entertainment, they symbolize the values of friendship, equality, and the transformative power of inclusion.
“The vibrant competition will feature athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities showcasing their skills, creativity, and passion through various dance styles. The event is designed to promote inclusion, self-expression and social interactions while encouraging physical fitness through dance. ” Reads a statement from their invitation.
Schools that will be participating in the competition include St Joseph Primary school, Ekwetsembeni Special School, Ntuthukeni, Qinisweni, Ekululameni skills Centre, Likhono Lami ngumnofto skills centre, schools for the deaf, Mbasheni Anglican, Horses Heart and Balance for life Primary school.
Families, friends, and members of the public are warmly invited to attend and cheer on the performers. With something for everyone, from captivating solo routines to collaborative group numbers the event is set to be a joyful and unforgettable experience. In every step and every beat, the Special Olympics Eswatini dance competition will shine a spotlight on courage, creativity, and community.
