MBABANE– Madlenya Football Club, also known as “Jozi Gobana,” has confirmed their relegation from the premier league after three challenging seasons at the top tier of Eswatini football.
In a reflective and emotional note shared with supporters and stakeholders, the club expressed gratitude for the unwavering support throughout the season. The message acknowledged Wednesday, 11 June 2025, as a significant and somber date marking the team’s departure from premier league football.
“As we kiss goodbye to the premier league football, I found it worthy to pen this down and personally thank my beloved Jozi Gobana family and all stakeholders for the support throughout the season. Yes, Wednesday, 11 June 2025, is the day when one growing brands of local football Madlenya Football Club, otherwise fondly referred to “Jozi Gobana ” goes down to the football second tie”. Madlenya FC, which has grown to become one of the prominent local football brands, has endured a tough journey since its promotion to the premier league three seasons ago. Despite the struggles, the club emphasized that the experience has been educational and transformative for players, staff, and management alike.
“We have learnt something. We have learnt many things. The journey continues,” the statement read, showcasing the club’s resilient spirit and readiness to rise again.
With relegation now a reality, Jozi Gobana is heading back to the drawing board with a clear and bold ambition: to return to the premier league as champions of the National First Division (NFD). The club is determined to make a strong comeback and is already setting sights on a triumphant campaign in the lower division.
“May we continue with that spirit as we begin another journey in the National First Division League,” the message concluded, echoing both humility and hope for the future.” Reads the statement.
