ATHLETICS ESWATINI LAUNCHES STRATEGIC REVIEW PROCESS, CALLS FOR STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

MBABANE-  Athletics Eswatini has officially announced the commencement of a comprehensive strategic review process aimed at crafting a renewed and forward-looking strategy to propel the sport’s growth and success in the country. In a letter addressed to all athletics clubs and stakeholders dated June 16, 2025, the Athletics Eswatini Secretariat outlined the initiative designed to shape the future direction of athletics in Eswatini.

To spearhead this critical process, Athletics Eswatini has appointed Mr. Thoba Mazibuko, a seasoned sports administrator with extensive experience in the sector. Mr. Mazibuko’s credentials include lecturing in sports administration and contributing to major national frameworks such as the National Sports Policy and the National High-Performance Strategy. His expertise is expected to bring valuable insights and structure to the strategic review.

A key element of the process is the upcoming Stakeholder Participation Session, scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025. The session will take place at the Olympafrica Centre in Lobamba from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This meeting will provide an essential platform for member clubs and other key stakeholders to engage directly, offering input that will help shape the strategic plan.

Athletics Eswatini emphasizes that participation in this session is not only encouraged but vital, as the resulting strategic plan will serve as the foundation for the organization’s development and progress over the coming years. The Secretariat has assured that further details regarding the agenda will be communicated in due course.

Nomcebo Simelane, the Acting Chief Operating Officer and Secretary-General of Athletics Eswatini, expressed gratitude to all members for their continued commitment and support. She reiterated the importance of collective effort in ensuring the sport’s sustainable growth.

This strategic review marks a significant step forward for Athletics Eswatini as it seeks to strengthen its governance, enhance athlete development, and elevate the profile of athletics nationwide. The organization’s call for inclusive participation reflects its commitment to transparency and collaborative progress in the sporting community.
