MBABANE- Yesterday, June 26,Her Royal Highness Inkhosikati Make LaNgangaza has officially launched the annual Hospice at Home Knitting Challenge at the Ngabezweni Royal Residence.
The launch was marked by a generous personal donation of E25 000 from Inkhosikati LaNgangaza during a Methodist Church Women’s Manyano donation event.
The Methodist Church of Southern Africa Woman’s Manyano also made a significant contribution by donating food items, clothing, toiletries, and other essentials valued at E60 000. Further support came from a local company, which donated 15 mattresses to aid the initiative.
The funds and donated goods will help procure wool for volunteers who will knit warm clothing and comfort items for patients supported by Hospice at Home.
“Sometimes, care comes in the form of yarn and kindness,” said Inkhosikati LaNgangaza, reflecting on the emotional and healing impact of community-driven efforts.
Women from different municipalities across the country are expected to participate in the challenge, showcasing a national spirit of unity, generosity, and compassion. The Knitting Challenge, now in its 19th year, has grown into a beacon of hope, improving the lives of vulnerable individuals across Eswatini.
Also in attendance were elderly women from Mankayane, all aged 50 and above, led by Councillor T. Mabeleza. They honoured the royal Invitation to participate in both the knitting initiative and the newly introduced Knitting and Physical Fitness Programme, organized in partnership with AMICAALL.
This new programme aims to promote holistic wellness among senior citizens by combining creative expression with physical activity, aligning with Inkhosikati LaNgangaza’s vision to support the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of the elderly.
In her closing remarks, Inkhosikati LaNgangaza expressed heartfelt appreciation to all individuals, companies, and institutions that have supported the initiative over the past 35 years, including the Government and private sector. She reaffirmed her commitment to continuing efforts that foster compassion, unity, and dignity through purposeful community engagement.
This year’s event once again highlighted how royal leadership, collaborative partnerships, and something as simple as a ball of yarn can stitch together a stronger, more caring society.
