MALKERNS – Fashion enthusiasts are in for a captivating experience as the Standard Bank Luju Festival unveils its 2025 fashion showcase!
The excitement is palpable as the talented designers who will present their creations at this year’s Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival have been revealed. Scheduled for August 1-2, 2025, at House On Fire in Malkerns, this year’s fashion narrative emphasizes heritage, sustainability, and fearless innovation, blending traditional elements with contemporary flair.
Headline designer Thula Sindi will debut an exclusive collection that showcases his unique vision, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of Africa. Known for his elegant and sophisticated designs, Thula Sindi is a prominent South African fashion designer celebrated for his sophisticated ready-to-wear clothing. Born in Klerksdorp, he initially pursued fine arts before studying fashion at the National School of the Arts and LISOF in Johannesburg.
He began his career at Vlisco, a Dutch textile company, and launched his own label, Thula Sindi, in 2006, debuting at South African Fashion Week. Sindi’s design philosophy centers on creating timeless, elegant pieces for the modern woman. His recognition includes being named the SA Tourism Designer of the Year in 2012 and featuring in Forbes’ “30 Under 30: Africa’s Best Young Entrepreneurs” in 2013.
Sindi aims to empower women through his designs, which combine contemporary styles with an African touch. He has expanded his retail presence with stores in major cities and advocates for the South African fashion industry, emphasizing the importance of intellectual property and collaboration among designers.

Guests enjoyed a diverse array of talent, from musical performances to culinary showcases, making it a multi-faceted experience.
The festival was officially launched on July 4, 2025, by Prime Minister Rusell Dlamini, who emphasized its role in empowering local businesses and fostering economic growth. He remarked, “The Luju Festival is a shining example of sustainable and inclusive growth, showcasing the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of our culinary and fashion sectors.”
