MANZINI – Meaning, “A Great Gift” an intentional name given by her late mother …Siphokazi is an Afro fusion musician who released her debut album called Ubuntu bam in 2007, she has released 4 albums to date.
Well known for one of her hit tracks “Amacala” released in 2007, Siphokazi will be celebrating her 17th year of independence as an artist this month after a 3-year tenure managed by another record company which ended in 2009. Correcting previous media narratives, Siphokazi confirmed that her 17 years of independence simply means she has the freedom and power to decide on her dreams at her own pace.
Billed for a performance during the much-anticipated Diva’s Concert in the Kingdom on 31 August at the Olive Country Lodge, Sidvokodvo – Siphokazi promises a grand & exciting performance filled with a rich culturally embraced aura that will sooth the audience’s souls!
Born in South Africa, Lusikisiki the artist acknowledged that her path has been a challenging one from navigating industry limitations to facing other complex realities of being a woman in music, she does not regret the journey as she has musically and personally matured from every obstacle.
The “Ubuntu Bam” hit-maker will be performing alongside a sensational a list of Eswatini’s female leading artists in varying genres including Flow, Velemseni, gospel power-house Nothando Hlophe, Cleopatra, Sarnilo & Originelle.
In it’s 5th edition, the concert aims at promoting Eswatini’s creative culture through artistic excellence, cultural perseverance and economic development.
Siphokazi is an award-winning performer after being honoured with a SAMA in 2007 for her debut album Ubuntu Bam emerging as the best newcomer and best African adult contemporary album that particular year. Other accolades received by the artist include 3 Metro FM awards, a SATMA and ECMA award and being a KORA award nominee – an annual event celebrating musical achievements in the sub-Saharan Africa.
