MBABANE – For years, the promise of salary alignment for Eswatini’s security forces felt like a story with no ending, whispered in mess halls, discussed over family dinners, and debated in hushed tones during late-night patrols.
It was a subject that sparked both hope and frustration. Now, at last, the wait is over. With pens on paper and hands shaken in agreement, the nation has turned a long and winding chapter into one of resolution and progress.
Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini announced that His Majesty’s Government, in partnership with the Royal Eswatini Police Service and His Majesty’s Correctional Services, has signed a full and final settlement on the professional adjustments. The signing took place on 13 August 2025 after extensive negotiations facilitated by the Minister of Public Service.
Key Details of the Agreement
- Professional Adjustments: Inspectors, chief officers, assistant superintendents, and superintendents will receive recommended salary realignments, including a once-off backdated payment at an 8% net value rate for up to 24 months before being permanently realigned.
- Functional Levels: Assistant inspectors, assistant chief officers, sergeant instructors, constables, warders, and other functional ranks not benefiting from the professional adjustments will receive a 3% increment on basic salary, also backdated for up to 24 months.
The adjustments are guided by a consultant’s report and aim to ensure fairness across all levels of the security forces.
Effective September 2025
Implementation will begin in September 2025, ushering in a new era of equity and recognition for the men and women in uniform.
PM commended all stakeholders for their commitment to dialogue and peaceful resolution, praising the Minister of Public Service’s “tireless effort” in concluding the matter amicably.
“This conclusion will be acceptable to all and sharply respected by all officers in the country’s security forces, including their families,” the PM said.

Beyond the numbers, this agreement restores confidence, boosts morale, and affirms the government’s commitment to valuing its security personnel. It also sets a precedent for constructive negotiations in addressing national matters.
With this resolution, Eswatini turns a contentious chapter into a story of unity, fairness, and progress, and for the security forces, it is a long-awaited promise finally fulfilled.
