SITEKI– Swati music is stepping boldly onto the global stage, and DJ/Producer duo Virtuousouls are making sure of it. Made up of Mfanifikile Mhlanga (Mafikzo) and Mayenzeke Zwane (MayeLeMuso), the duo has just released their latest single Uyacacisa featuring the soulful voice of Teshiselo.
The track was born unexpectedly back in 2023. “This one wasn’t planned,” they explained. “Teshiselo came to the studio to wrap up a song with Cnatra, but in the middle of the session she poured out what she was feeling at the time, and that’s how Uyacacisa came to life.”
Blending pure Amapiano with touches of soulful, sgija, and tech piano, the single offers a fresh, unique sound while staying rooted in the popular genre. “The best part of working on this track,” they recalled, “was revisiting the beat with Musical Phill, one of the kingdom’s most talented beat makers, and bringing it fully to life.”
Uyacacisa also marks a new chapter for the duo, as it was dropped under their new label family, Upscale Live. “It made the release feel even bigger,” they said.
For Virtuousouls, the journey is not just about music, it’s about representation. “It’s super exciting. We’re proud to be sharing Swati music with the world and showing off what Eswatini has to offer,” they shared.
The reception has already been overwhelmingly positive. “Compared to our past drops, the love for Uyacacisa has been amazing. We think the Upscale Live influence really helped the song reach more people.”
