MBABANE – A new chapter in sports diplomacy is on the horizon as the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) and the Taiwan National Olympic Committee (NOC) prepare to formalize bilateral ties.

This follows a courtesy visit by Taiwan NOC President, Mr. Eric Lin, and his delegation to the EOCGA headquarters on Friday, 29th August 2025. The delegation was received by EOCGA President, Mr. Adam Mthethwa, and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Maxwell Jele.

The discussions centered on strengthening cooperation in sports development, with both parties emphasizing the importance of creating opportunities for athletes and officials. Mr. Lin extended an invitation for EOCGA to visit Taipei, signaling the start of reciprocal engagements.

A major highlight of the meeting was the agreement to immediately begin drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Once signed, the MOU is expected to pave the way for joint programs in athlete training, technical exchanges, and sports administration.

The visit underscored the enduring friendship between Eswatini and Taiwan, while marking a progressive step toward structured collaboration at the Olympic movement level.
