HLANE – His Majesty King Mswati III has praised the nation’s warriors for the successful completion of the Butimba, a cultural event that reinforces Eswatini’s values of unity, discipline, and environmental stewardship.
The warriors returned home triumphantly, carrying the game as a symbol of strength, devotion, and loyalty to the Kingdom. His Majesty commended their dedication and teamwork, highlighting the courage and resilience displayed throughout the exercise.
What is Butimba?
In his address, the King emphasized that the Butimba should not be viewed as merely a hunting expedition. Instead, it is an environmental and cultural practice that teaches responsibility, discipline, and respect for nature. It reminds the nation that Eswatini’s traditions are closely tied to the land, and that the regiments play a vital role in safeguarding both the environment and the cultural fabric of the country.
By participating in the Butimba, the warriors demonstrate loyalty to the nation while also deepening their appreciation for the environment that sustains life. This balance between cultural duty and ecological awareness ensures that the practice remains a living heritage for future generations.
From Butimba to Ngabezweni
Following their success, His Majesty commissioned the warriors to Ngabezweni, affirming their role as protectors of tradition and national pride. From there, they will join the commissioning of the Imbali regiment, adding to the Kingdom’s rich cultural calendar.
Their journey will culminate at Ludzidzini Royal Residence, where the dispersal will be marked with dignity, thanksgiving, and joy.
