NHLANGANO– Shiselo Down South Studios (SDSS) is set to revolutionize the entertainment landscape of eSwatini, offering a unique creative hub that combines music, arts, physical training, and media production under one roof.

Founded by Bobo Rocboy (born Bongani M. Dlamini), the studio aims to provide a platform for local talent to grow, collaborate, and gain recognition, all while fostering a community spirit and celebrating the diverse artistic culture of Shiselweni.

Located in the heart of Nhlangano, Shiselo Down South Studios was born out of the need for a multifunctional creative space that supports a wide range of artistic and physical activities. SDSS caters to artists and performers across seven disciplines, including music recording, dance and modelling training, instrument playing, fine arts, self-defense training, podcasting, and music video production. The studio’s multidisciplinary approach provides a one-stop space for locals to explore their artistic potential and physical fitness.

“We want to create a space where all forms of art are celebrated,” says Bobo Rocboy, founder and CEO of SDSS. “This is more than just a studio — it’s a community hub for artists, athletes, and creatives of all kinds to come together, collaborate, and innovate.”

One of SDSS’s core missions is to provide a platform for Shiselweni’s underrepresented talent. Historically, the entertainment industry in eSwatini has been concentrated in regions like Hhohho and Manzini, leaving areas like Shiselweni overlooked. However, Bobo believes that by providing opportunities close to home, local talent can thrive and gain the recognition it deserves.

“Too many artists have to leave their homes to find success,” Bobo says. “At SDSS, we’re giving talent a place to stay and grow right here in Shiselweni. We’re showing them that they can succeed without having to migrate to bigger cities.”

In addition to offering diverse training and production services, SDSS is working on several projects that will showcase local talent. One of the most anticipated upcoming releases is the music video for a song titled “Ngisite”, produced by artists affiliated with the studio. The track features Bobo Rocboy and Yung Trevor, and the audio version is already available on YouTube. The video for the song is set to be released soon, marking a significant milestone for the studio’s artists. At its core, Shiselo Down South Studios is about fostering collaboration among artists of all kinds. Whether it’s a musician working with a dancer, a choreographer collaborating with an actor, or a painter teaming up with a photographer, the studio is designed to bring people together. By offering a wide range of services, SDSS is positioned to become a cultural hub where artists and performers can cross disciplines and create something entirely new.

“We’re not just about teaching or training,” Bobo explains. “We’re about bringing people together, creating a community where ideas flow freely, and where collaboration leads to innovation.”

Looking ahead, SDSS has several exciting initiatives in the works, including partnerships with EWC (Eswatini Water Corporation) to use their auditorium for showcasing locally produced films and music videos. The studio is also planning events like karaoke nights, dance battles, and music competitions, designed to highlight the best talent in Shiselweni and encourage the community to engage with the arts.

“The goal is to put Shiselweni on the map as a hotspot for creativity and talent,” Bobo says. “We want people to see that this region is home to amazing artists and performers.”

With a growing reputation for excellence, Shiselo Down South Studios is poised to become a key player in the eSwatini entertainment industry. Through its inclusive approach, it’s giving voice to those who have been overlooked and providing a much-needed platform for the region’s artists to flourish.

As Shiselweni Down South Studios continues to grow, so too will the opportunities for local creatives. With its emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and community, SDSS is creating a new era for Shiselweni, one that promises to shine a spotlight on the incredible talent that exists within the region.
