BHUNYA – Aspiring Eswatini model Thandolwethu Dlamini has achieved a significant milestone in her rising career after being nominated for Best Zikomo Model of the Year 2025 at the renowned Zikomo Africa & Caribbean Awards.
The annual awards ceremony, which honours excellence across the creative industries, will be held on 17 December 2025 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, bringing together leading African and Caribbean artists, innovators and visionaries.
Dlamini, who comes from eMhlangeni, began her modelling journey in 2018 after discovering a deep passion for fashion, visual storytelling and performance. Her career gained momentum in 2024 when she joined Top Models Eswatini, where she received professional training that refined her runway skills, confidence and industry presence. She has since featured in a variety of showcases, including the Phakama Mpumalanga Festival, earning recognition for her poise and versatility.
She credits model mentor Mbalenhle Kimberley Manana for shaping her talent and encouraging her growth during the early stages of her career.
Reacting to the nomination, Dlamini said she was humbled and honoured by the recognition, describing it as one of the most meaningful achievements of her life.
“This nomination is a reflection of hard work, sacrifice and God’s grace,” she said. “It is not just for me, but for every young Swazi model who dreams of being seen.”
She added that such continental acknowledgment confirms that Eswatini’s fashion and modelling talent continues to stand out on the global stage. She also appealed for national support as voting for the awards is now open.
“I kindly ask everyone to vote for me. Your support will help me bring this award home to Eswatini,” she said.
