MBABANE – Eswatini’s fast-rising Afro-pop sensation, Lady Sphesh, born Siphesihle Shongwe, has closed out 2025 on a remarkable high, recording an extraordinary 8.5 million YouTube views globally.

The achievement, revealed in her official 2025 YouTube Artist Recap, signals a defining breakthrough moment for the young artist and positions her firmly on the continental music map.

The impressive milestone reflects a year of consistency, innovation and growing international appeal. According to YouTube analytics, Lady Sphesh’s music was streamed across 143 locations worldwide, with listeners dedicating more than 401,000 hours to her songs. The numbers confirm that her sound is not only travelling beyond Eswatini’s borders but also resonating deeply with audiences across Africa.

South Africa emerged as her strongest market with an outstanding 2.6 million views, followed by Mozambique with 1.1 million views, and Namibia with nearly 460,000 views. These figures highlight her growing influence within the Southern African region, where Afro-pop continues to thrive as a leading musical genre.

Her digital momentum extends beyond YouTube. Lady Sphesh’s 2025 Spotify Wrapped further reflects her growing footprint on global streaming platforms. She accumulated close to 600,000 streams, reaching 208,000 listeners across 157 countries, with fans dedicating over 41,500 listening hours to her music throughout the year. Such statistics reflect not only reach but genuine audience connection and loyalty.

Much of this success has been driven by the popularity of her breakout singles, including fan favourites such as “Zigade” and “Ngiyahamba”. These tracks have played a key role in introducing Lady Sphesh’s distinctive sound—blending Afro-pop rhythms with emotional storytelling—to new audiences across the continent. Her music speaks to youthful resilience, love, pain and ambition, making it highly relatable to a diverse and growing fan base.

Beyond streaming success, 2025 has also been a year of major industry recognition for the Eswatini star. She recently earned nominations for Best Zikomo Artist of the Year and Best Zikomo Rising Star at the prestigious Zikomo Awards 2025, confirming her growing presence on the African music awards circuit. Earlier in the year, she proudly claimed the Best Young Achiever Award at the 2025 Musicvideoafrica Awards in Lagos, Nigeria, a significant international honour that further elevated her profile.

Her expanding influence has also translated into increased media visibility. Lady Sphesh made notable appearances on prominent platforms, including eTV’s The Morning Show, where she reflected on her journey and the rising global recognition of Eswatini talent. These appearances have helped position her as not only a performer but also a young cultural ambassador for the Kingdom.

As her fan base continues to expand, Lady Sphesh is preparing to release her highly anticipated new single, “Umhlaba Uyahlaba”, which translates to “The World Hurts”. The upcoming track is expected to build on the emotional depth and musical maturity she has displayed throughout the year, while further strengthening her momentum heading into 2026.

Lady Sphesh’s rise is more than a personal victory—it represents a powerful moment for Eswatini’s creative industry. Her success demonstrates that local talent, when supported by discipline, originality and digital platforms, can compete confidently on the global stage. For young artists across the country, her journey serves as inspiration that dreams born at home can indeed travel the world.

With millions of views, international awards recognition and a rapidly growing international fan base, Lady Sphesh continues to shine as one of Eswatini’s brightest young stars. Her story is one of determination, resilience and unstoppable ambition—proof that Eswatini’s voice is not only being heard, but celebrated far beyond its borders.
