MANZINI– The local poetry scene is set for a major revival as the highly anticipated showcase, ‘Nkhondlo Cho’, prepares to take center stage following a brief delay.
Organised by the renowned Soul Therapy collective, the event marks a significant comeback for a group that has long been considered a cornerstone of Eswatini’s literary arts. After a period of relative quietness, this event serves as a powerful statement of intent, reaffirming the collective’s dedication to their audience and their craft.
Originally scheduled to thrill fans on October 31, 2025, the event was postponed to allow for further preparation. It has now been officially rescheduled for February 6, 2026, at the William Pitcher Dining Hall in Manzini. The show is slated to run from 2 pm to 5 pm, offering an afternoon of deep reflection, rhythmic expression, and spiritual healing.
Soul Therapy has built a formidable reputation over the years for delivering poetry that blends storytelling with raw emotion and rhythm. This unique combination has allowed them to cultivate a loyal following, though recent times saw the group enter a quieter phase. ‘Nkhondlo Cho’ is designed to change that narrative, acting as a landmark occasion that signals their official return to the spotlight.
Organiser Caregiver, a key figure behind the showcase, expressed that the delay from last year has only strengthened the group’s resolve to deliver a world-class performance. He addressed the community directly, aiming to rebuild the bridge between the artists and their loyal supporters who may have felt the collective had disappeared.
“We want to put it out there to the people that ‘Soul Therapy’ is back and ready to deliver just like it has been doing over the years,” Caregiver stated. “We also want to revive hope to those who had lost hope in us”.
The upcoming event is curated to be inclusive, catering to both veteran poetry aficionados and newcomers. Caregiver noted that the show’s unique atmosphere is designed to captivate anyone, regardless of whether they have a prior interest in the art form. With a focus on healing and powerful narrative, the February showcase is expected to be a defining moment for the Eswatini arts scene in 2026.
