MBABANE- At least 1 273 teachers have received a welcome boost after the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) renewed their contracts, bringing stability and reassurance to many educators across the country.
The teachers gathered at Mater Dolorosa High School Hall to collect their renewal letters, marking an important step toward continuity in classrooms and learning for thousands of learners.
The development also spotlighted issues affecting some educators. Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) Secretary General Lot Vilakati said the repeated renewals can be a “tiring and painful exercise,” noting that some teachers have undergone the process for more than 10 years.
SNAT called for the timely issuance of posting letters to give teachers clarity and help schools plan effectively. The union also raised concerns about fair treatment of educators in some schools.
Despite these concerns, the large-scale renewals bring immediate relief to over a thousand teachers and their families. The move is expected to support smoother school operations and sustained teaching and learning, as stakeholders continue engaging on ways to strengthen the education system.
